2015 Midyear Top 10 Whiskies Countdown: #6

Only one of the three whiskies named after a year made it to our top ten. But which one?
We're halfway through the year (or just finished up the fiscal), so it's time to take stock of what we've done so far. TIME TO RANK THE TOP 10 WHISKIES!

Disclaimer: this is a top 10 of the whiskies we've podcasted about over the last 6 months. This is not a top 10 of all whiskies ever.

#6 1776 Rye

A relaunched rye with a dubiously claimed year and a funky cork scandal, the 1776 still made our top 10 - and that's saying something. Visit James E. Pepper's website here to see some of their dubiously photoshopped ads.

"Plain and simple, straight up, this rye is damn tasty. No frills about it and the best part isn't even its deliciousness, it's the price tag. At around $30-$40 a bottle, it can definitely hold its own against the pricier ryes. A top shelf whiskey at a middle shelf cost that deserves a place on every rye lover's shelf, period." - Evan

"By far the best of the 'year' whiskeys we have tried. A delicious high rye whiskey that has been around for a long, long time for good reason. Complex and warm flavor." - Greg

"This was good, even though I still call bullsh-t on naming stuff after years." - Quinn
