2015 Midyear Top 10 Whiskies Countdown: #7

If we were an international spirits judging panel, this one would have probably ranked higher. But we're not. We keep it real.
We're halfway through the year (or just finished up the fiscal), so it's time to take stock of what we've done so far. TIME TO RANK THE TOP 10 WHISKIES!

Disclaimer: this is a top 10 of the whiskies we've podcasted about over the last 6 months. This is not a top 10 of all whiskies ever.

#7 Yamazaki 12 year

The only Japanese whisky we've had on is therefore both the best and worst Japanese whisky we have had. It was good. Go to megacorp Beam's Yamazaki site here.

"Yamazaki is like when a movie or TV series does a good 'remake.' It honors the whisky of Scotland (specifically Speyside) with all the reverence their history deserves, while still bringing its own refreshing, uniquely Japanese flair and focus." - Evan

"If you gave this to me and didn't tell me what it was, I'd be convinced I was drinking a Speyside single malt. A fine example of how the Japanese have studied and replicated the scotch whisky traditions with a subtle touch of local flare. Tasty, but not quite worth the price tag." - Greg

"My advice: buy a bottle, stick it in your closet, and take it back out in 10 years when it's worth $2,000 and you can feel better about what you paid for it." - Quinn
